Leaving Messukeskus for your flight

Pasila is one of the shortest runs to Helsinki Airport we drive — about 18 km, normally 20 to 25 minutes — but the departure direction has a rhythm of its own. The car leaves Pasila northbound on Hämeenlinnanväylä or Tuusulanväylä, which on a weekday morning is the outbound side of the commuter flow, so the motorway part of the journey usually holds close to its normal time even at eight o'clock. The tighter moments are the fair days themselves: when a large public show opens or closes, the streets around Ratapihantie and the station fill with coaches, taxis and delivery vans, and those first few hundred metres take longer than everything that follows. For a morning flight after a big fair we plan the pickup a quarter of an hour earlier than the arithmetic alone would suggest.

Where your driver waits at the venue

Messukeskus has more than one door and they are a long walk apart. The Southern Entrance at Messuaukio 1 faces Pasila station and Tripla; the Northern Entrance at Ratapihantie 17 serves the other halls and the load-in traffic. Tell us which entrance you will come out of — or simply which hall your stand is in — and the car waits there rather than at the venue's postal address. If you are staying next door at the Holiday Inn Helsinki – Expo, at Scandic Pasila or at the Sokos Hotel Tripla above the station, the pickup is at the hotel entrance and the drive begins a minute later.

Departure day for an exhibitor is rarely just a suitcase. Roll-ups, banners, sample cases and half a stand travel home with you, and that is what the Vito is for: up to eight people and eight bags in one vehicle, loaded at the entrance instead of wheeled through the station and onto a train. Give us the hall and the flight number when you book and we time the pickup to the end of load-out rather than to the closing hour printed in the programme.

Add the two hours the airport asks for international departures and the whole morning plans itself: about 2 h 25 min from your door to your gate. We watch the morning traffic and the weather, and if your flight moves, the pickup moves with it.
