Everything about a departure from here is decided by the length of the road. Close to four hours of driving means an early-morning flight is a pickup in the small hours, while a midday or afternoon departure is a comfortable daylight run — worth knowing before you choose the ticket. Give us the flight number when you book and we work the pickup time back from it ourselves.
The night version is easier than it sounds. The Highway 5 corridor south-west through Rantasalmi and Mikkeli is empty at that hour and the kilometres pass quickly; the only stretch that ever slows is the last half hour on the approach roads to the airport, where commuter traffic starts building after seven. Daylight departures are the ones with variables in them: summer weekends and the Opera Festival weeks put holiday traffic on this road in both directions.
Inland Finland is not the coast. Snow settles earlier and more heavily along this route than it does in Helsinki, and a January pickup deserves a wider margin than the same distance in June. Our cars run on winter tyres and the drivers cover this road all season, but on a dark morning the sensible plan is more time, not a tighter clock.
From early July into early August the Opera Festival fills every hotel in town and empties them again each morning. Performances inside Olavinlinna finish late, departures the following day bunch together, and this is the week when a car for a four-hour run is hardest to arrange at short notice. Book the departure leg when you book the room.
Savonlinna is spread across islands and straits joined by bridges, and the hotels, the harbour, Casino island and the castle all sit on different pieces of water. Give the exact address — hotel, cottage, or the pier you are stepping off — and the car is at that door at the agreed time. If you are staying out towards Punkaharju or Kerimäki, say so in the booking: the extra distance goes into the pickup time rather than into your morning.
The drive from Savonlinna to Helsinki Airport is about 320 km and takes around 220 minutes in normal traffic. Add the two hours the airport asks for international departures and the whole morning plans itself: about 5 h 40 min from your door to your gate. We watch the morning traffic and the weather, and if your flight moves, the pickup moves with it.
Your driver arrives at the address you give — hotel entrance, office, private house or the port — helps with the luggage and drives straight to the departures level of Terminal 2. There is no meter running while you load the bags, and the fare does not change if the traffic does.
One price for the car, not per person. All taxes included, agreed when you book — no meter, and nothing added afterwards.
The local operator, start to finish. We assign the car ourselves, the driver is one of ours, and the fixed price you see is our own price. If anything changes on the morning of the flight, one WhatsApp message reaches the person who assigns the cars.
Room for the luggage. Three passengers and three suitcases travel in the Business Sedan (Mercedes-Benz E-Class or similar); larger groups take the Business Van (Mercedes-Benz Vito, up to eight) or the Business Minibus (Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, up to fifteen), and for 16 and more we arrange a coach on request — so nobody travels separately from their bags.
