The airport is about 130 km west of Kotka, roughly 1 hour 40 minutes on Highway 7 (E18) past Loviisa and Porvoo, and the two hours the airport asks for before an international departure sit on top of that. In practice a flight at 08:00 means a pickup in Kotka around 04:20, and a midday flight around 08:20. The early start sounds worse than it drives: the coast road is empty at that hour almost the whole way, and the only stretch that can cost you minutes is the last one, where the E18 meets the capital-region ring roads in the weekday morning peak. Afternoon and evening departures run untroubled, apart from summer weekends when the same road carries cottage traffic back toward Helsinki.
Kotka's centre is spread across islands joined by bridges, and addresses that sit close together on a map can be on different crossings. Give the exact street address when you book — the harbour side by Vellamo, the town centre, Langinkoski out on the Kymi rapids, or a house further east toward Hamina — and the driver comes to that door instead of to a general idea of town. Loading happens where you stand, and nothing is running while the bags go in.
This road takes Baltic weather more directly than the inland routes do, and winter on the Kymenlaakso coast can arrive earlier and hold on longer than it does in Helsinki. That is ordinary operating weather for us and the agreed price does not move with it, but for the first flight of the day in January it is worth accepting a pickup slightly earlier than the arithmetic strictly demands. Around Meripäivät in high summer, book the departure leg at the same time as the arrival: that is the week when transport across the whole region is at its most stretched.
The drive from Kotka to Helsinki Airport is about 130 km and takes around 100 minutes in normal traffic. Add the two hours the airport asks for international departures and the whole morning plans itself: about 3 h 40 min from your door to your gate. We watch the morning traffic and the weather, and if your flight moves, the pickup moves with it.
Your driver arrives at the address you give — hotel entrance, office, private house or the port — helps with the luggage and drives straight to the departures level of Terminal 2. There is no meter running while you load the bags, and the fare does not change if the traffic does.
One price for the car, not per person. All taxes included, agreed when you book — no meter, and nothing added afterwards.
The local operator, start to finish. We assign the car ourselves, the driver is one of ours, and the fixed price you see is our own price. If anything changes on the morning of the flight, one WhatsApp message reaches the person who assigns the cars.
Room for the luggage. Three passengers and three suitcases travel in the Business Sedan (Mercedes-Benz E-Class or similar); larger groups take the Business Van (Mercedes-Benz Vito, up to eight) or the Business Minibus (Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, up to fifteen), and for 16 and more we arrange a coach on request — so nobody travels separately from their bags.
