The hotel is about 19 km from the terminal and the drive back takes around 24 minutes when the roads are clear: down Kalastajatorpantie, up the linden-lined Munkkiniemen puistotie, onto Ring I and north on Tuusulanväylä. With two hours at the airport on top, that puts a car under the hotel canopy at roughly 05:35 for an 08:00 flight and around 16:35 for a seven o'clock evening departure — for the evening one, add fifteen minutes or so, because Ring I is at its slowest between four and six. Munkkiniemi itself is residential and empty at dawn, which makes early departures from here some of the easiest in Helsinki.

Kalastajatorppa is two buildings in one seaside park, and that is the detail worth giving us when you book. Guests in the Seaside Wing can either be collected at their own entrance or come through the underground walkway to the main lobby — in February, with cases, the walkway is the better idea. Tell us the building and the driver waits at the right canopy instead of at the other one across the grounds.
