Leaving, the route reverses the arrival: north on Mannerheimintie past the Opera and the Olympic Stadium, onto Hakamäentie, then up Tuusulanväylä to the airport. It is one of the quicker central hotels to leave from precisely because it barely touches the city-centre grid. In the weekday morning peak the slow points are Hakamäentie and its junctions with Ring I, so a pickup between seven and nine gets a few extra minutes built in; outside those hours the drive runs close to the book time. On top of that we count the two hours the airport asks for before an international flight.

Where the car waits at the entrance

The driver pulls in at the main entrance on Mannerheimintie. It is a tram avenue with a bus lane, so the stop is a short one — have the bags in the lobby before the agreed time and loading takes a minute, or ask the driver to come in and collect them. For an early departure that is the whole procedure: down in the lift, across the lobby, into the car, and out of the city while the avenue is still empty.
