Leaving the southern tip of Finland for a flight

The drive back to Helsinki Airport is about 140 km and takes around 1 hour 50 minutes, east along Highway 25 through Tammisaari (Ekenäs) and Lohja before the capital region's ring roads bring you to the terminals. Put the airport's two hours on top of that and a morning departure starts before dawn for most of the year, so we ask for your flight number and calculate the pickup rather than guess at it. Traffic on Highway 25 is usually light; the exceptions are summer weekends, when the coast fills with cottage traffic, and Regatta week in early July, when a large part of southern Finland's sailing community is moving along the same road.

Pickup in a villa street, at the harbour or out on the peninsula

Hanko's centre is compact and its streets are older and narrower than the highway that brought you here, so the pickup point is worth naming precisely. Hotel entrances and the harbour are straightforward. The spa-era villa streets — Appelgrenintie, Boulevardi and the lanes around them — are narrow, hedged and quiet, and the driver needs the street number rather than a description of the house. Summer cottage addresses out along the peninsula are the ones to describe fully: an exact address, and a note if the last stretch is an unmarked sand lane. The driver comes to the door either way and takes the bags from there.

Sailing bags, beach gear and the Regatta week rush

Hanko sends people home with more than they came with: boards, sailing kit, buckets and spades, and a summer's worth of sand. A larger vehicle keeps a family or a crew and their gear in one car rather than splitting them, and it is worth asking for at the time of booking rather than on the morning. During Regatta week the whole town's accommodation and transport are spoken for well in advance, so book the departure at the same time as the arrival — once you are in Hanko, the return is the one thing you will not want to be arranging.

Leaving Hanko for your flight

The drive from Hanko to Helsinki Airport is about 140 km and takes around 110 minutes in normal traffic. Add the two hours the airport asks for international departures and the whole morning plans itself: about 3 h 50 min from your door to your gate. We watch the morning traffic and the weather, and if your flight moves, the pickup moves with it.

Your driver arrives at the address you give — hotel entrance, office, private house or the port — helps with the luggage and drives straight to the departures level of Terminal 2. There is no meter running while you load the bags, and the fare does not change if the traffic does.

What the departure price includes

One price for the car, not per person. All taxes included, agreed when you book — no meter, and nothing added afterwards.

The local operator, start to finish. We assign the car ourselves, the driver is one of ours, and the fixed price you see is our own price. If anything changes on the morning of the flight, one WhatsApp message reaches the person who assigns the cars.

Room for the luggage. Three passengers and three suitcases travel in the Business Sedan (Mercedes-Benz E-Class or similar); larger groups take the Business Van (Mercedes-Benz Vito, up to eight) or the Business Minibus (Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, up to fifteen), and for 16 and more we arrange a coach on request — so nobody travels separately from their bags.

What time should the car pick me up in Hanko for my flight?
Plan on roughly 3 h 50 min before departure: about 110 minutes of driving plus two hours at the airport for bag drop and security. For a 08:00 flight that means a pickup around 04:10; for a 12:00 flight, around 08:10. Tell us your flight number when you book and we will suggest the pickup time ourselves.
Can I book a return transfer at the same time?
Yes. Book both legs in one go: each leg is priced for its own date, time and direction when you book; the airport pickup includes meet & greet and 60 minutes of waiting.
What if my flight is very early in the morning?
We drive around the clock, and the fare for your pickup time is fixed the moment you book. Early departures are our most common departure job: the car is at your door when you asked, and the roads are empty at that hour.
