Himos is about 226 km from the terminal and the drive takes some three hours: down to Jämsä, onto Highway 24 along the western shore of Päijänne through Kuhmoinen and Padasjoki, then Highway 4 from Lahti to the airport. Two hours at the airport on top means the best part of five hours between the cottage door and the gate — an eight o'clock morning flight is a three o'clock pickup, which on this route is an ordinary winter night and one our drivers work all season. If the group would rather not start in the dark, an early-afternoon flight turns the same journey into a late-morning departure with breakfast first.
The cottage areas at West and North Himos are a web of small lanes that are hard work in February, and the car comes to the cottage itself, so the last thing you carry bags across is your own doorstep. Two practical points for the morning: leave the keys where your rental agreement says, and if that means a stop at a reception or key box on the way out, mention it when you book — it costs nothing. Return hired skis and boots the evening before, since the rental shops open later than an early departure needs. Ski and board bags travel flat in the back of the van, the same way they came up.
The end of a weekend at Himos Park empties the resort at once, and on-the-spot cars are simply not available then. A vehicle booked when you booked the tickets is waiting where you agreed, with a driver who knows which access roads are open during the event. In midwinter, expect a snow-covered final stretch and plan a little margin: we watch the weather along Highway 24 the night before and move the pickup earlier when the road calls for it.
The drive from Himos to Helsinki Airport is about 226 km and takes around 180 minutes in normal traffic. Add the two hours the airport asks for international departures and the whole morning plans itself: about 5 h from your door to your gate. We watch the morning traffic and the weather, and if your flight moves, the pickup moves with it.
Your driver arrives at the address you give — hotel entrance, office, private house or the port — helps with the luggage and drives straight to the departures level of Terminal 2. There is no meter running while you load the bags, and the fare does not change if the traffic does.
One price for the car, not per person. All taxes included, agreed when you book — no meter, and nothing added afterwards.
The local operator, start to finish. We assign the car ourselves, the driver is one of ours, and the fixed price you see is our own price. If anything changes on the morning of the flight, one WhatsApp message reaches the person who assigns the cars.
Room for the luggage. Three passengers and three suitcases travel in the Business Sedan (Mercedes-Benz E-Class or similar); larger groups take the Business Van (Mercedes-Benz Vito, up to eight) or the Business Minibus (Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, up to fifteen), and for 16 and more we arrange a coach on request — so nobody travels separately from their bags.
